Senate
As part of the senate this year, I've seen a lot of strength: the senate effectively provides communication between the State and regions, and many senators take an active role in both State and Regional leadership. However, some mayors were left without support from their senators, not out of malicious intent but a simple lack of communication. Thus, I would encourage all regional governments to have weekly or bi-weekly calls that include the mayor, vice-mayor, and all senators. On Senate Calls, I would ask senators to report on the state of their regions toe ncourage this link. Strong regional leadership is necessary for one days, entertaining caucuses, and expansion.
This year, each senator was paired with a department. I would keep this policy in place next year but increase the roles that senators play in their department, encouraging directors to give them similar responsibility to those of an agent. Many senators have more experience in JSA than the average agent, and therefore provide a valuable resource to departments if given the chance to participate.
Generally, the senate's roll has been largely technical or beauracratic this year. We reviewed the constitution and ferried information between departments and the Big Three, but we were largely left without instructions for more tangible contributions. Proactive senators took a roll in running their regions and provided imput to their departments, but there was no obligation or accountability to do so. As LTG, I would work with the senate to encourage all members to make the greatest contibution to JSA they can.
